2nd Annual Winnipeg in motion Week
That's right - "Winnipeg in motion week" is back for another year!
Winnipeg in motion week (May 22-28, 2007) is a week-long celebration of the importance of physical activity in our daily lives for health benefits and enjoyment! It will feature a variety of fun, exciting and creative activities for Winnipeggers of all ages!
This year's festivities will begin with an exciting news conference at David Livingstone School on Tuesday May 22nd, at 10:15 a.m. Conference highlights include guest appearances by Juno nominated performer - Aaron Burnett as well as the "X-Company" who will encourage those in attendance to get "in motion" and "Get Off the Couch" with the "Get Off the Couch" song and dance!
In motion Family Day at David Livingstone:
On Tuesday, May 22nd, from 1:15-3:30 p.m., David Livingstone School and Winnipeg in motion will host a "Get off the Couch Family Day" for all David Livingstone students and their families.
There will be music, dance and refreshments and families will take home an in motion ideas to help them stay active and "in motion" this summer!
Winnipeg in motion Walking Rally:
We're inviting all Winnipeggers to grab their walking shoes, get out of the office and join us on Wednesday, May 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Winnipeg in motion Walking Rally at Portage Place Shopping Centre. This is a fun walk through downtown Winnipeg, with entertainment on the main stage at Edmonton Court. Participants can choose their own start time and one of two routes (long or short). Early registrants will also receive a Winnipeg in motion reusable cotton tote bag! Forever in motion Jamboree:
 | NOTE: The Forever in motion Jamboree has been postponed from May 24th, 2007 until Thursday May 31st, 2007 So, on Thursday, May 31st, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Forever in motion Jamboree at the Crescentwood Community Center (1170 Corydon - Bus Route 18). The Event will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor activities/games, all designed to help older adults get active and "in motion" for good health. The event will also feature free demonstrations, entertainment, interactive displays, food/refreshments, chances to win prizes and a few "special guests. Let the Games Begin:
On Friday, May 25th, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., older adults are invited to the Millenium Gardens, 1571 Henderson Highway, for "Let the Games Begin", a celebration of Winnipeg in motion the 8th Anniversary of the River East Seniors Health Resource Team.
Activities will include a variety of old and new games, including traditional favourites like horseshoes and new games like "Coconut Bowling" and "Hillbilly Golf". Old time music will be provided by the Senior Serenaders. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be draws for door prizes.
