…warm-up & cool-down tips! The most important part of our “in motion” routine – warming up and cooling down – is the most overlooked. Put your best foot forward by warming up – it’s an important first step to avoid muscle strain or injury. Try some easy jogging, cycling, or skipping for 5-10 minutes to get you warm, followed by some stretching of all the major muscle groups. Remember to hold each stretch for at least 15-20 seconds. After exercise, make sure you cool down for 5-10 minutes! A light walk followed by stretching is the best way to help your body recover from the stress of exercise. Not cooling down can lead to dizziness and fainting – and possible injury. Visit http://www.winnipeginmotion.ca/walkingworkout/plan/flexibility/ for some great stretches. Physical activity.
