River East/North Kildonan in motion Photo Gallery | CLICK ON ANY IMAGE TO VIEW FULL SIZE! |  |  |  |  | Good Neighbours Senior Centre and the Seniors Health Resource Team - River East co-hosted a Grandparents picnic on Wednesday, August 16th, 2006. Young and old enjoyed the afternoon of old-fashioned games -nail driving (Councillor Lillian Thomas shown), bocce ball, 'hillbilly' golf, horseshoes, egg on a spoon races and jello-eating competition. | In motion bucks have been the reward for being active and having fun. The bucks have been redeemed at the Good Neighbours Senior Centre Treasure Cove (Thrift Shop at River East Shopping Plaza - 1441 Henderson Hwy.) for water bottles, sun hats, rain ponchos, t-shirts, etc. The River East Seniors Health Resource Team promoted and managed the program through their health clinics. |  |  | Pictured here is the Active Living Committee for Older Adults in River East that meets regularly to plan strategies to get the community involved in Active Living. A grant from the United Way and volunteer help through the Good Neighbours Senior Centre made this possible. | Good Neighbours Senior Centre(755 Henderson Hwy.) gardeners have been busy keeping the grounds around the Centre in tip-top shape and having fun while doing it. |  | | The Elmwood Sluggers were the honoured guests of the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Aug. 17, 2006 when they were able to go out on the field for the Opening Pitch. | | Bunn's Creek Morning Milers Walking Club has met on Wednesday mornings during the summer to enjoy walking, talking, and the beauty of nature with the Seniors Health Resource Team-River East. Here is the group at the entrance to the Trans-Canada Trail near the Millennium Gardens. | |  | "Water Walking" has brought a new way of enjoying the pool this summer. Ther Seniors Health Resource Team - River East has conducted demonstrations at various sites using the Arthritis Society Water Exercises pamphlet. Groups have agreed to meet on a regular basis for fun, fitness and fellowship. |  |  | River East Canada Day Parade filled Henderson Highway as the seniors and community donned their red and white outfits and proudly waved Canadian Flags to all the vehicles on Henderson Highway. At the Millenium Gardens the paraders enjoyed barbeque, sing along and a celebration of being Canadian.
